Saturday at Walesby

Saturday at Walesby

Camp had settled down around 1am and had woken up by 5am. It is waaay to exciting to sleep at cub camp. We were booked into lake activities in the morning so after a full English breakfast and the washing up done we set off for the lake. All the cubs had a go rafting, canoeing, kayaking and body boarding down a water slide. It was great fun and a little bit cold. Once we had returned to camp and dried off the cubs were given free roam of the site to go and have a go at any of the activities they liked the look of. Lunch consisted of a range of sandwiches and crisps. We also started tucking into the pile of cakes donated by parents. After lunch a lot of the cubs went off to queue up early for activities especially the bag drop. Some of the other activities that our cubs have done include quad biking, climbing, a cave maze and a brilliant Harris Hawk display. Spaghetti Bolognese was for tea tonight before heading off for the evening entertainments like the camp fire and fun fair rides. With a large group having a go at Air Rifle Shooting. After an adventure packed day the cubs were all in bed and quite for 11.30 this evening giving us leaders more time for good nights sleep ready for another day of exciting...

Friday Night

So the camp is set up and the kettle is on. The cubs went off exploring the site and making new friends. We saw the opening ceremony fireworks and disco. Tomorrow we have lake activities in the morning and free rein to find all the activities and have a go. There was also a lot of water getting splashed about when the water was filled...

Keeping Up To Date During Walesby Cub Camp

Keeping Up To Date During Walesby Cub Camp

With camp just around the corner I’m sure everyone is packed and getting super excited! For the parents that don’t get to join in the fun and adventure on camp we are going to try and keep them up to date with what we are doing as best as we can. Depending on the phone signal and what time we have available we’ll be tweeting throughout the day from 1st Ripley’s twitter account @1stRipleyScouts In the evenings we’ll try and write a diary of what we have been doing during the day and get as many photos uploaded as we can. The photos will go into these blog posts as not everyone has access to 1st Ripley’s facebook page. We can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to tweet and post the blog posts it just depends on the signal strength on my phone! But please do keep checking back to see if we have been able to post anything. Feel free to comment on the posts but the leaders won’t be able to comment until we get back. The latest posts will appear at http://1stripleyscouts.org/category/falcon/walesby16/ See you all at...
Falcon Pack – March Report

Falcon Pack – March Report

We started the month by playing the trading trainers game which involved teams making paper shoes and selling them, as though they were working in a workshop in poorer country, to show that you can work really hard but still not make a lot of money. This went towards the world challenge badge, that we are started working towards. At the end of the meeting we invested three more Cubs to Falcon Pack and we hope they have a great time with us. Falcon pack also continued with some activities for the science badge investigating how exercise and activity can have an impact on your heart rate and pulse, when playing dodgeball. We have also built a compass using a needle, some magnets and a piece of cork to find out which way is north. We have also been continuing working towards completing our totem pole and district flag segments ready for St. Georges Day. We also had four Cubs take part in the district Cub Scout quiz while the rest of the pack went on a walk around Ripley, and playing on the parks at night time. Finally in the last meeting before the Easter holiday we all went up to mega zone in Derby for a game of friendly laser tag. Once again thank you to the leaders and parent helpers for their help in running the games and...
