A sunny Saturday saw the Group’s annual Spring fayre fundraiser take place at our headquarters on Hill Street.

At the fayre one of the most popular attractions was the soak a leader stall where for 50p you could throw a sponge at Cub leader, Kaa. By the end of the fayre it was a good job that he brought a spare change of clothes. Also outside the Scouts were teaching people how to make their own burgers and bread using camp cooking techniques.

Kaa is the target at the Soak a Leader stall.

Inside the refreshments area was busy all morning serving ploughmans’ lunches, and a range of sandwiches and drinks. As usual the cake stall was a popular area with scones, brownies and cup cakes among the cakes on offer this year. Scouts were also selling bird boxes that they had made as part of their craft badge and to fundraise for Peak 2015.

During the fayre Dorothy Hutchinson presented a donation from the Ivan Hutchinson Fund to a local child to help with their hospital transport costs.

Finally after selling prize draw tickets over the past month and in the Co-Op in Ripley on Friday 8th May the Prize draw was drawn. If you have been lucky you’ll be getting a phone call soon.
