May has been a busy month for 1st Ripley Scout Troop honing their tent pitching skills by pitching the tents upside down, perhaps in preparation for camping in Australia. Another activity was using a selection of tent poles and broom handles to create a structure capable of supporting all their patrols of 3-4. Finally steak and chips were on the menu as the Scouts turned their hands to backwoods cooking where they have to cook food without utensils on an open fire. Fish was wrapped in wet newspaper, steak was wrapped in tin foil and chips were placed in baking tray’s fashioned into a mini oven.
