Keeping Up To Date With Peak 2015

With not long to go until Peak 2015 below are the ways that you can keep up to date with what we get up to while at camp! Through the Peak 2015 page you will be able to see everything we can post while at Peak. During the day time we will be tweeting what we were doing so make sure that you follow us on twitter (@1stRipleyScouts). Don’t worry if you don’t have a twitter account you can find a twitter stream on the peak page. The number of tweets we can post will depend on how much free time we have. At some point during the evening we will also be posting an overview of what we have done that day hopefully with pictures. You can see these posts on the Peak page as well. Any photos we can we will upload to the website and will be visible on the Peak 2015 page. National Scout Car Races 2015 – Blackpool

Cubs, Scouts and Young Leaders from 1st Ripley Scout Group have been enjoying themselves in Blackpool over the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July when they went to the National Scout Car Races which was held in Blackpool this year. 8 Cubs, 4 Scouts and 4 Explorer Scouts/Young Leaders took part in the event on the 4th July racing against Scouts from all over the country around a 400 metre track in friendly competition. After the racing we all went into Blackpool for Fish and Chips and a look around the arcades, beaches and piers. May’s Monthly Report

May has been a busy month for 1st Ripley Scout Troop honing their tent pitching skills by pitching the tents upside down, perhaps in preparation for camping in Australia. Another activity was using a selection of tent poles and broom handles to create a structure capable of supporting all their patrols of 3-4. Finally steak and chips were on the menu as the Scouts turned their hands to backwoods cooking where they have to cook food without utensils on an open fire. Cubs Earn Highest Award and Cub/Scout Quiz

Two Cubs, Dillon Ault and Mark Hawley have achieved the Chief Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Cub can gain in Scouting. They were presented with the award at the Annual Ripley and Heanor District Cub and Scout Quiz held at the Headquarters of 1st Ripley Scout Group on Tuesday 3rd March 2015. To achieve the award both Cubs have had to work hard to get the Creative, Community, Fitness, Global, Outdoor and Promise Challenge badges which are part of the requirements for the Silver Award. Meanwhile in the quiz the our Cub/Scout teams (two cubs and two scouts per team) did very well against the Cubs and Scouts from Swanwick, Sitwell, Codnor, and Loscoe, with one team finishing in 3rd place and the other in 5th place.
