On 8th May, the 1st Ripley Scouts marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a spectacular street party at the Scout Hut, bringing together the community to honor this historic occasion in true Scouting spirit.
With an exciting mix of traditional games, music, and delicious food, the event offered something for everyone. Thrill-seekers tested their aim at axe throwing, while others enjoyed classic carnival-style games such as tin can alley, coconut shy, and splat a rat. The joyous sounds of music filled the air as all sections gathered, reflecting on the significance of VE Day while celebrating with sandwiches, cakes, and sausage rolls.
This memorable event not only paid tribute to the sacrifices and victories of the past but also strengthened community bonds, embodying the values of camaraderie and resilience.
A big thank you to the team of volunteers that organised the event and to Ripley Town Council who provided a grant to enable the event to take place.
